SingSwingSing welcomes Marcus Jones MP
What's on offer?
SingSwingSing is a 7 week course of vocal workshops for a group of over 65 year olds run by Big Band and BBC proms vocalist Matt Ford.
SingSwingSing is designed for people who have been isolating/isolated throughout the pandemic, and who have an interest in singing and a love of Big Band/Swing Era music
(Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin for example).
Do I need to have previous singing experience?
No. You don't have to be a great singer. We're not looking for the next X factor finalist! You just need a love of the music and a willingness to commit to the course. The course is open to anyone aged over 65 years old living within the project areas.
I'd rather not sing, but I'd still like to get involved.
There are 8 spaces for non-singing participants, who will provide moral support and feedback to the singers, while also learning from watching the process unfold.
So what do the singers do in the sessions?
Each week the singers will work on their chosen song with Matt Ford (and star pianist Matthew Regan)
focusing on one of the six essential skills required to perform the music of the Swing era.
OK, I'm interested, but when do the workshops start?
The first course is underway, but more will follow!
The sessions are 3 hours long (including breaks), 2pm - 5pm
Sounds good, but what's it going to cost me?
Nothing! And I mean nothing!
We've been awarded an Arts Council Grant funded by the National Lottery for the first course.
This grant pays for everything associated with the workshops. There's no catch and no small print! We are actively seeking funding from a variety of sources to run more free workshops.
When will booking open?
Booking is currently closed, but please get in touch to express an interest in future courses. If there is demand in any particular area, we'll try to run a course there.
We are strictly limited to 8 singing spaces and 8 non-singing spaces for each course.
Will it be Covid safe?
Yes, as part of the funding applications we have completed a full risk assessment,
and all necessary safety measures have been, and will continue to be, taken care of.
